Strange. The first time I watched this video it was completely black, with no image although the sound was OK. Second time, the image was fine.π€·
This was a very informative video, so thank you for sharing it.
It shows why having back-up systems are so important in life: Ex. The airplane being equipped with 2 radios & the air control tower's World War 2 red light warning system.
Lastly, but most importantly, I am glad that you and your friend remained safe throughout this particular event.
Thank you for sharing this experience and insight ^^
Very interesting insight from the aviation world, thank you for sharing!
What if youre low on fuel when flying and get Red light do not land !? π’
Fubar flashlight
Been a long time since I've heard of that. But it's a good back up in case of comm failure
Interesting, I have more than 140 hrs. in a 172. Iβve only seen a light gun used once, w/an antique plane for an airshow.
This is something you learn in ground school here in USA. I never thought id even hear someone experience the light system from tower,
Seems like the tower did some quick thinking on their part as they noticed your radio went out from their end and they probably didn't have your cell phone number either. So good job to ATC up there in my opinion.
I hope the radio gets fixed or replaced soon… and like anything in aviation, it'll probably cost the owner of the plane quite a bit. π
Awesome that so simple system still works as a backup
So in good old Aussie english, red light in the tower means, "f-off mate!"
You didnβt set the other radio on guard frequency ?
In PPL ground school now and we just learned about light gun signals. Cool video!
Its nice there are so many systems that usually you have something to fall back to.
Really interesting! ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»π
