In this episode we celebrate PUJA DAY! The Puja is a ceremony every climber and sherpa does before beginning their ascent of Everest in order to in order to make contact with the Everest God Sagarmatha so they can ask it for permission to climb and pray for a safe passage. It’s also every sherpa’s only day off so turned into a huge party. I’ve celebrated a lot of foreign holidays in my travels but Puja Day just may be my favorite!
