25 Unique Buddha Statues

Buddhism is the world’s fourth-largest religion, with over 500 million followers of Gautama Buddha.

The first person to reach the state of enlightenment was Siddhartha Gautama. After his death, the religion grew, and so did its art forms. The earliest Buddhist art was in India, where Buddha was not represented in human form.

Over the following centuries and as the religion entered new regions, artists began erecting Buddha statues around monasteries and stupas with various body shapes, postures, and styles made from a wide variety of materials.

Here we present 25 unique Buddha statues!

  1. I would also include the Thai Buddha Vihar in Sarnath. It stands 80 ft tall and located in Sarnath just outside Varanasi, India. A sacred site where Gautama Buddha first taught the Dhamma, and where the Buddhist Sangha came into existence through the enlightenment of Kondanna.

  2. You should probably learn to say his name correctly BEFORE you make a video on the subject.
