The island of gold – Sado

After visiting southern Niigata, we headed to the mysterious island of Sado. This island used to be a political exile spot until gold was discovered at the early 1600s.
In this video, we learn a little history as we explore the island’s deep gold mines, visit the world-famous Kodō taiko group (taiko = Japanese drums), savor delicious local cuisine, and indulge in onsen (hot springs) at a mysterious hotel.

Kindly check out part 1 as well where we explore southern Niigata:

Niigata can be combined with the nearby Noto Peninsula (https://youtu.be/cUv_gO153wc), Kanazawa, Takayama (https://youtu.be/5OyTwM6OGWQ), or Yamanaka Onsen (https://youtu.be/BWTDP619j-c).
