😀 A BIT ABOUT US:
We’re Marianne & Chris, a happily married couple from the UK. Marianne is a living kidney donor to her best friend, and realising that life was for living and never really knowing what’s round the corner – we decided to fulfil our dream of travelling full time.

So in March 2018 after the kids had left home, we sold our belongings, rented our house and moved into our campervan called Trudy. We set off to see the world and after vanlifing around Ireland and Europe, we grabbed our backpacks and spent 5 months exploring Central America.

Feeling like we needed a challenge, we planned the ultimate van life adventure! In Jan 2020 set off to drive around the World from UK to UK. But after arriving in Turkey, covid caught up with us and closed the borders, so we had a wonderful 18 months exploring this special country. Realising we were not going to be able to head further East, we decided to do a handbrake turn and go the other way and shipped our van to the USA.

We hope you enjoy coming with us, and we’ll continue to share our real adventures and hope you feel inspire to step out of your comfort zone and try something new.

  2. Wow, the pics of the statue were impressive on your Facebook page, but seeing it approaching on video really changed my perception of scale!! 🤯🤯

Such tranquil, meditative places in this week's video. 😌😌 Amazing. Looking forward to Hokkaido! 🤩

Aaron the Bus Driver was very used to stopping at all railroad crossings! 🤣 Aaron the Lorry Driver doesn't have to, tho. 😁
    ❤️❤️😎👍xx

  3. 25:16 The expressway has discounts though. If you get an ETC card (only available through a Japanese credit card or rental car shop for duration of the rental vehicle) you get a discount over paying cash. They also have a holiday discount, night discount, and a few more. Also, to drive from Tokyo Station to Aomori ferry terminal the prices are ¥16,540 $114.41 £90.08 if paying cash. However, ETC card would be: ¥15,470 $107.01 £84.25. But if you were to drive and spend the night at a rest area, that price is ¥11,090 $76.65 £60.39. You can also get an unlimited ETC pass for a set rate that allows for unlimited ETC usage as well.

  4. nice to meet you. My name is Yasuhiro from Japan. I live in Hokkaido. I always enjoy watching your YouTube videos of driving in Japan. Well, this time, I was asked about the red light hut along the road. That is a hut that makes sure that certain vehicles follow the traffic rules. A nuclear power plant is under construction in Aomori, and we are monitoring whether the vehicles involved in the construction are causing trouble for local residents. Looking forward to driving videos. Take care and have fun.

  5. Growing up in California, we had ice cream vending Machines.

Now that you mention it. Can’t remember ever seeing them since leaving. Even in California, they weren’t very numerous!

  6. What a fun episode. The giant statue and samurai museum. You'll never forget such unique experiences. You were as alive as small children. 🤸🤸🎠

  7. 私のホームタウンへようこそ❗️
    良い旅をお過ごしください😊
    ご安全に✨

  8. I believe those roadside booths are for motorists to pay road maintenance workers, as their jobs take a toll. Having to pay money to ring that huge bell…it’s not a toll cheap. I could tell a joke about that sedan chair at 16:16, but then I’d get carried away 😂

  9. Pretty amazing temple. Glad you got to visit it. As a target tournament archer, I especially appreciate the martial art of Kyudo archery and have seen it in action in a demonstration of it (Lake County, Florida, USA). The Samurai villages you visited is so lovely. Actually the country of Japan is a really lovely one.

  10. Kakunodate is definitely the most beautiful place I have seen in Japan , one should come to visit at least once in life time .
