My brother in law invited me to climb up Mount Fuji with him. We left at 5:00 PM, Monday night. We arrived at the Fuji parking lot at 10:00 PM, climbed until 4:00 AM, Tuesday morning, then we headed back down. It took us maybe four hours to descend. We left, enjoyed an onsen (hot springs), and drove home: getting back at about 6:00 PM, Tuesday evening.

All in all–for those of you keeping track at home–we were traveling/hiking with almost no sleep for about 24 hours. Ten of those hours were in the car. Andrew took one for the team by driving the entire time both ways.

When we got back down from the peak, I said to Andrew, “That was great. Let’s never do that again.”
