You can actually experience a Shinkansen Train on the The Hakata-Minami Line from Hakata Station to Hakata-Minami Station which is a inter-city commute with slower speed, and it takes 8 minutes and 300 yen. 300 yen is the cheapest fare on any Shinkansen Train.
That’s why I think Shin-Tosu to Kurume is a better choice if you want to experience a Shinkansen on budget. Both Shin-Tosu and Kurume are important stations on Kyushu Railway Network. You can connect the Limited Express train to Nagasaki, Sasebo and Huis Ten Bosch from Shin-Tosu Station.
