In Japan, convenience stores are known as “conbini” (コンビニ) and they are a ubiquitous part of daily life. There are three major chains: 7-Eleven, FamilyMart, and Lawson, but there are also other smaller chains and independent stores.

Convenience stores in Japan offer a wide variety of products, including food and drinks, snacks, toiletries, magazines, books, stationery, and even clothing. Some stores also offer services such as bill payments, ticket purchases, and copy and fax services.

7-Eleven is the largest chain with over 21,200 stores across Japan, while FamilyMart has over 16,500 stores and Lawson has over 14,200 stores. In total, there are over 55,000 convenience stores in Japan.
