A Journey Through Shirakawa-go’s Timeless Beauty, Gifu | Japan Travel Guide ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต

Shirakawa-go is a village known for its gassho-zukuri style thatched-roof houses located on the border of Gifu and Toyama prefectures in Japan.
Gassho-zukuri means “hands in prayer” as the steep thatched roofs resemble hands pressed together in prayer.
It is a historic architectural style unique to Japan.
In recognition of its scenic beauty and historical value, Shirakawa-go was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1995.
