Today we’re going to have a look at the first* steep grade railway in Europe, the original Rigibahn for a second time (this time with sunny weather). The Rigi is a mountain located in central Switzerland within the cantons of Schwyz and Luzern. It’s a popular tourist destination. Almost completely surrounded by lakes, the journey to the top offers spectacular views.
Two of Switzerland’s three standard gauge rack railways serve the Rigi mountain. The one we’re looking at today starts in Vitznau, a scenic boat ride away from the city of Luzern (Lucerne).

Whenever I open U tube, frequency of Switzerland rail videos is often, next is Western movies. In this video I am seeing for the first time track is going through deep forest wooded areas. It is beautiful.

Amazing geology of this mountain! It is uplifted and tilted, with very dramatic fault escarpments. Apparently conglomerate, especially visible at the opening to the tunnel.
