Canada is fighting hundreds of wildfires, the smoke from which still shrouds major cities, including those in the neighboring US. Authorities in the province of Quebec describe the situation as “unprecedented” amid warnings that the country must be prepared for similar disasters in the future.
The wildfire season, which was the worst in Canadian history, has already led to the evacuation of more than 20,000 people. The fire is raging in most regions of the country. More than 400 fires started on dried soil and began to expand rapidly.
“More than half of the 414 fires nationwide are out of control,” Emergency Preparedness Secretary Bill Blair said. At the same time, the hottest and driest months are yet to come.

    Weird they all started on the same day. "Just a coincidence", I suppose. No doubt if we all stop driving our fossil fueled cars and drive an EV (more than likely also fossil fueled), we'd be much safer. But maybe I'm just regurgitating what I've been hearing on the media. I could be wrong.
