Day in the Life of a Japanese Street Fighter 6 Game Planner

A Day in the Life of a Japanese Capcom Game Planner working on Street Fighter Six in Osaka Japan. This is everyday Japanese work culture and work hours for a Game Developer at Capcom, one of the top video game companies in all of Japan. Founded in 1979, Capcom has been a pioneer in the game industry for over 40 years, now with about 2900 employees all working together to develop iconic multi-million selling title franchises like Resident Evil, Monster Hunter and one of my childhood games, Street Fighter. Tsuyoshi himself has working on the latest version, Street Fighter 6, for the last 5 years, as a Game Planner. Japan is interestingly unique in Game development as the job title Game Designer is rare. Instead, the job title of Game Planner really only exists though the roles are more or less the same. Most likely because in Japan, the “Designer” title is thought of as a person who focuses more on visual aesthetics like drawings or graphics, while a “Planner” is involved in the entire creation process. Today we will follow the Game Planner from morning until evening to show what he does from when he wakes up, what he does at work and what he does when he finishes work. This is his working hours in Japan along with all the tasks he is responsible for in his job.

  1. I thought that Alexa alert was mine. Also: that's a nice apartment (size-wise, for Japan). But obviously as a dev for Capcom, he most likely gets paid very well.

  2. He said something very interesting.. violent ken. I named my CFN name as ViolentKen, I've been waiting for years to see him get into a game and sf6 is absolutely anazing. Please please please let him be dlc!! Amazing episode paolo!

  3. Oh jeez. How long did you have to hold onto this footage before you were able to publish it!? I feel like if the algorithm hits just right, you're about to have A LOT of traffic from the FGC!

  4. Capcom is on a roll !!! MHW and MHR, RE2 RE3 and RE4 Remake, DMC5 and now SF6… I cannot wait for the next game MH with that beautiful RE Engine fully maximized

  5. Tsuyoshi has one of the best jobs in the world and walking distance to work, too.(I drive about 60 miles back and forth to work and during the worst times in rush hour traffic 😭 )

  6. This reminds me when I worked for Nintendo of America in Redmond, Washington and was training at Mario University. The R&D is usually off limits but I was able to walk in and see all these creators playing games in their cubicles.I am surprised Paolo was able to gain access AND FILM in this area.

  7. I seriously gasped when you said "You iron your hair?" and he answered you. I dunno what wall you just broke but I'm pretty sure you're usually just a disembodied camera in the morning.

  8. To have behind the scenes access at Capcom is amazing! This video was well put together Paolo! Thank you for sharing it with us!

  9. Japanese game programmer , game illustrator , game designer and now game planner ❤. What other specialization is left in gamin g 😂😂

  10. The rich stays rich by spending like the poor and investing without stopping then the poor stays poor by spending like the rich yet not investing like the rich.

  11. No pun intended but, Paolo, this is NEXT LEVEL! So freaking cool. CAPCOM is the best. I'm a huge Street Fighter fan as well. This was so cool to see!

  12. These videos are so wonderful! I’m always so happily surprised these huge companies allow you such incredible access. It makes me love the companies who allow this more, because it feels like they’re proud to let it be showcased!

  13. I really like the street fighter series and it’s so cool that you got to see the behind the scenes creation of street fighter 6

  14. Don't Japanese people go to the gym? There is no time based on the working schedule

  15. The man who made your street fighter character was so sweet haha! Everyone was so pleasant in this interview.
