Okayama Korakuen Garden 後楽園

Okayama Korakuen Garden 後楽園 is one of the representative daimyo gardens of the Edo period in Japan. Along with Kairakuen in Mito and Kenrokuen in Kanazawa, it is one of the Three Famous Gardens of Japan.

It was constructed on the orders of the Okayama feudal lord, Ikeda Tsunamasa, by his vassal Tsuda Nagatada in 1687, and was completed in 1700.

The garden has been preserved to this day, with various modifications made in accordance with the tastes of succeeding feudal lords. Korakuen is known for its beautiful landscape design, featuring a large central pond, various walking paths, and traditional buildings such as teahouses and a rice-cake-making facility.
