Japan’s Amazing Train Station with Drift Ice: Kitahama, JR Hokkaido

Chasing the drift ice, a wintertime tradition in Hokkaido, we will visit Kitahama Station in JR Hokkaido. The Senmo line running from Shiretoko-Shari to Abashiri offers a view of drift ice, the snow-capped Shiretoko mountain range, and the brilliant sunset over the northern land. The retro Kitahama Station, with its walls covered with a large number of business cards, is also a highlight. At the end of the journey, we take an Icebreaker ship and feel the drift ice close at hand.
