Japan Beach Clean-Up #trashtag – Community Volunteer Group Fukuoka For Sustainability #ffs

Great community volunteering event on SHIKANOSHIMA beach in Fukuoka organized by the good folk at Fukuoka For Sustainability (FFS) – find them on Instagram & Facebook for future events.

See the video at the same beach 3 years ago by organizers @RachelandJun https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_blNCMhRFtA

Please add your name to the petition asking Japan/Hiroshima govt to stop using plastic in the oyster industry
https://www.change.org/p/stop-the-use-of-plastic-in-hiroshima-s-oyster-industry-go-back-to-bamboo

My aim is to collect signatures and raise awareness to encourage Hiroshima and Japan’s government to take Japan contribution to the ocean plastic problem more seriously. @theoceancleanup found that Japan is the biggest contributor of ocean plastic pollution that they collected in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch so far at 34%. In Hiroshima, the biggest plastic polluter in our oceans and inland see is the oyster industry, so we are asking for the government to make a commitment to phase this plastic out of use and use bamboo like they did traditionally.

  1. Wonderful meeting youtuber Rachel of @rachelandjunadventures who is one of the organizers of these FFS cleanup events in Fukuoka – I love how they use their popular channel to spread awareness of the plastic pollution problem and the fun of volunteering at community events like this- here is one of their cleanup videos from a different beach NAJIMA https://youtu.be/N5JLWhcE_NM
