こちらは北海道伊達市にあるJR北海道の室蘭本線・北舟岡駅(H37)。北海道内、ならびに室蘭本線の駅としても屈指の海に程近い駅となっております。
北舟岡駅は伊達市の中心駅である伊達紋別駅(H38)から一駅東室蘭(H32)・札幌(01)寄りにある対面式2線の無人駅で、列車交換も可能という事もあり、前後の区間が単線という事もあり列車交換も比較的頻繁に行われます(但し、基本的に特急「北斗」は函館行き・札幌行き共に山寄りの2番線を高速で通過し、海側の1番線は通過待ちの普通列車のみ使用します)。
そんな北舟岡駅で時刻は午前11時半前、珍しい(?)組み合わせのコラボが見られました。まず函館(本州?)方面から来た下り貨物列車がポイントを渡り待避ホームである1番線に停車、少し間を置く形で函館行きの上り特急「北斗」8号が2番線を高速で通過していきます。
このような形の列車交換を見るのは地味に初めてだった為、未だに興奮しております。
This is Kita-funaoka Station (H37), located on JR Hokkaido Muroran Main Line in Date City, Hokkaido (next to Date-monbetsu (H38) Station, the primary station in Date City). Also Kita-funaoka Station is known as one of the stations closest to the sea in Hokkaido Area and Muroran Main Line.
As the surrounding area including this station has only one railway commonly used for both directions, there are often many trains needing train meets for the safe operation. What I saw here was: first a freight train from Hakodate (H75) or Honshu area for Sapporo (01) arrived and stopped temporary at Kita-funaoka Station Track 1, only for trains needing train meet. Then a Lmtd. Express Hokuto No.8 bound for Hakodate was passing through Track 2 with a high speed.
I still feel excited as this was the first time I saw such a train meet so far.
