Arashiyama Bamboo Grove in Kyoto

Along with Togetsukyo Bridge, the bamboo grove is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Arashiyama, Kyoto. This was a villa area for aristocrats in the Heian period 1000 years ago, and it is a fantastic place with a path leading through a bamboo forest that stretches so high that it covers the sky.
Many tourists from Japan and overseas visit, and it is crowded on weekend afternoons. We recommend visiting in the morning when there are few people. You can ride a rickshaw and go around as if you were an old Heian aristocrat.
