MOVING IN JAPAN ALONE VLOG | packing, japanese movers, cost, getting organized, advice + more ๐Ÿ“ฆ

IT’S TIME FOR THE MOVING VLOG!! ๐Ÿ

If you haven’t seen my recent apartment hunting video, make sure you go and check that out too! Today’s vlog is going to focus on me packing, moving, and unpacking, and at the end I will talk about the cost and how moving works in Japan. โญ๏ธ

It was really stressful and took up soo much more time than I thought lol. I’m really glad I did it before my new job started, I don’t know how I will do this again while I’m working…it’s really a lot of work to do it all ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Let me know how moving is in your country down below in the comments! I feel like it’s way more time-consuming here and stressful but I never really have been an independent working adult in America so it’s hard to comment on it really hehe

  1. HELLO EVERYONE DID YOU GUESS CORRECTLY!!?!? Anyways this move was exhausting and sooo much work lol. Sorry the filming and audio are ALL ๐Ÿ˜จOVER THE PLACE I did what I could ๐Ÿ˜… Now please watch until the very end because this video is SUPER LONG!!! and Youtube will punish me if you don't watch most of the video ๐Ÿ˜จ…which is why I left the juicy stuff (cost etc) til the end hehehe

  2. This might be a silly question but what exactly do you use to clean your walls? I'm still new to Japan and I'm afraid I'm going to ruin them since they are so fragile ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ

  3. this was such a great n helpful vid!! thank you for always workin hard ๐Ÿ™‚ hope you love the new space

  4. Moving is always pain. In the old place, you throw away a lot of things before you move. Then when you get to your new place, you end up having to buy new stuff for it. I don't know how you folks in Japan can live in such tiny apartments, but yet have so many stores all around. You can't buy anything because it will take up too much space. Well, at least you're done moving. Now on with the new career!

  5. Moving in country Western Australia is easy as everyone has a trailer so only costs fuel. We have moved heaps and never used a moving company. I just got back from Japan mid April and heading back next year, we have been looking at buying a house over there. We love Japan so much, so this video has been good.

  6. The new apartment is adorable.. How exciting for you Allison. Those curtains are adorable! Have you started your new job yet?

  7. Congratulations on the new place! It's coming together nicely. Great video, as always ๐Ÿ™‚ Fab curtains ๐Ÿ˜

  8. "Pile of misery" and "lane of despair" shall be terms I'll use on my next move now.
I wish we had reliable moving companies in the U.S. The one time I hired one it was a mess and they damaged stuff. I've gone the U-Haul route and the good old relative with a truck route (paid him of course).

  9. Good choice! Moving is stressful but great for getting rid of things isnโ€™t it? And isnโ€™t it interesting when you โ€œfix upโ€ the old place how you lived there and it was fine. You clean/fix it up and think why?? Didnโ€™t I do this while I was here. Anyway, youโ€™ve moved on congratulations and best wishes on the next chapter of your life.

  10. Very nice apartment! I think itโ€™s a good choice and I hope you gonna be happy there. It always amazes me to see what furniture does for a place. When I saw your empty old apartment I was really surprised how small it actually was. I mean youโ€™ve said it in your vlogs but it always seemed so spacious on camera. Anyway, second thing that really surprised me was that, this new dresser was already attached๐Ÿ˜ณ. I wish we had that in Germany too. But here you have to do it either yourself or pay people to do it for you ๐Ÿ˜…

  11. Moving companies that do the full pack would assumably exist here in Australia, but personally i feel that type of service just works really well in Japan because of the culture, over here i wouldnt trust people to not steal or break my items while moving them, in Japan i wouldnt bat a eye.

  12. Congratulations on your new apartment! Moving is awful in any country I think, but it seems like yours has gone pretty smoothly. I would find it difficult to live in a Tokyo-size apartment, I am a craft hoarder. Your logistics of trying to unpack in such a small place looked horrendous but you are obviously experienced on how to tackle it.

  13. That price sounds good to me. I paid an arm and a leg in the US, but I had a LOT of stuff. I'm glad you got apt #2! I think you should put the old bookshelves on the balcony and put some plants on them.

  14. Bless you Allison I am the same, particularly if I have to catch a flight very early the next day. I keep waking up in the night the night before in a panic thinking I have overslept!

  15. Hey Girl, i admire how you packed and organized everything by yourself. with my adhd i always struggle extremly xD especially with that space you have'! Awesome ๐Ÿ˜€ thanks for taking us with you!!! ps: love your new apt!

  16. You should be very proud of yourself!! Since I first saw your videos, I was impressed with your courage moving to a different country/culture and succeeding ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜Š You should do a video on your friends that weโ€™ve seen in your videos!

  17. I gotta get an update on the tension rod shelf!! It made me nervous watching you put it up. I can see it falling during the middle of the night and scaring the @#$% our of you!! Just discovered your channel and am enjoying going through all your videos. I'd love to see a Single in the City video or two (once you get settled, of course).

  18. Great video, keep the info coming. 275 for such a considerate service is super cheap. Moving my small one bedroom in Maine cost almost 800 dollars and they werenโ€™t careful and one of them was racist.

  19. Congrats on your move. It is a pain moving but at the end I hope you will be content with you new place~

  20. So, I am watching your video from my quasi-empty living room here in Tokyo as I recently moved from London and havenโ€™t come around to buying any furniture yet ๐Ÿ˜… Well done for managing everything on your own, itโ€™s impressive. I had help from my (Japanese) husband and canโ€™t imagine having to deal with all the paperwork and everything by myself ๐Ÿ‘ All the best for this new chapter ahead of you! ๐ŸŽ‰

  21. I lived out of a suitcase for my 10 years in Japan. I went there to make money, not spend money. Otherwise what is the point? You will never be or be given the same benefits and cultural breaks a non- Japanese and as a woman you pay tax but will always be a second class citizen. And a huge quake my get you at any time. Returning to Canada was the best move because Japan gave no marketable skills, so watch the clock.

  22. Congratulations in your new place!! We just moved from Florida to Pennsylvania for my husbands job. Luckily we had a full service pack & move so they packed everything for us which is great but unpacking was interesting..a box would say โ€œMaster bedroomโ€ Iโ€™d unpack some sheets and at the bottom would be cookie trays or my tea pot lol

  23. Glad to see you're settling in! I just orchestrated a move from Fukuoka to Saitama for a 2LDK apartment, plus getting me and two kitties here (it was a long, long day). The apartment getting process is so, so stressful (as was closing out the old one) I don't want to do it again any time soon. The move itself turned out be the easy part (well, if you discount packing 50+ boxes). I had one company come in and take a ton of stuff away, and I lucked into movers who charged me around 1.6 million for that cross-country move. Beats the 55,000 yen Art charged me to move less than 10 pieces of furniture 150 meters during busy season.

  24. This has got to be one of the most realistic moving vlog I've ever seen. Thanks for sharing!

  25. I just recently discovered your channel. Congrats on moving! I just wanna say that you remind me of Jennifer Lawrence lol

  26. I am moving to Japan in November! What is the best way to ship things overseas to Japan from America, in your opinion. ps, I'm not sure, but I think you moved to the apartment that I liked.

  27. Congrats on the move! is sad leave an apartment where u lived firsts experiences but now u can be open to new things!

  28. congratulations on the move! $275USD sounds really good, and they really take care of your furniture so it's totally worth it. i'm just shocked at the amount of stuff you had in that studio! good luck settling in, enjoying your new area and starting your new job!

  29. Hi, i think this is the first time i have seen you wear jeans in your videos. i only started following your videos start of 2022.

  30. Hi allison i forgot to ask you how did you throw away your stuff like the plastic bins in your old place? i thought you needed to recycle and sort all the rubbish or unwanted stuff?

  31. Moving is always such a crazy experience. Hope youโ€™re settled in ok in the new spot!

  32. That is a really good price! I paid ~$800 to move my one bedroom ๐Ÿ’ธ๐Ÿ’ธ๐Ÿ’ธ

PS – I love the gojo shirt!
