Kazusa Junisha Matsuri is a 1200 year old festival starting in 807 to celebrate the arrival of the goddess Tamayorihime-no-mikoto on the shores of Chiba and the unification with the god Tamasaki-no-mikoto also known as Ugayafukiaezu-no-mikoto who were the parents of the first emperor, Jimmu.
The festival is held every year on September 13 in Kazusa-Ichinomiya. They take mikoshi to the beach and run along the surf before rushing through a torii gate along with a handful of horses.

Hey Dave, Do you think the Japanese will get more litigious in future when they realize they can sue the Emperor for Repetitive Strain Injury IE the big lumps on their shoulders?.
