Hmm, won't let me create a QR code until I have landed and have the "landing permission" seal in my passport ?
It's actually from Saturday 29th, not may 8th. I heard yesterday that it has been moved forward to tomorrow! It also shows on the visit japan website.

My wife and I share a phone. Can she fill out mine, hers, and our babys info at once? Will we get a QR code per person, or will the same QR code work for the entire family?

I definitely need to apply a visa since I'm from a third world country that is not exempted which means my chances are slim to none of obtaining an entry.
If I am only entertaining Japan as a layover, and I will take a departing flight 3 hrs after my arrival, do I have to register my layover in the Visit Japan Web?

How far long before my flight to Japan should I sign up for an account in Visit Japan Web, my trip is mid-June
Not to scan the photo page but the "LANDING PERMISSION" seal of your passport to activate the Tax-free QR code
For tax-free shopping, make sure your passport is stamped at airport immigration entry point. When shopping in Japan, take your passport with you and tell the casier you would like pay your purchase tax-free. The cashier will check your passport and the immigration stamp, and then deduct the tax, most goods at 10%. Pretty straight forward, but your purchase must be over 5000 yen. Not sure how exactly how the QR code works, tried and found very confusing, not worth the hassel.
