Traveling in Japan is an assault on the senses, no doubt about it. After exploring some of Japan’s most interesting (and crazy) cities for the past week, it was time to get out of the city and travel to the other side of Japan, the beautiful mountains around Hakone. This area is famous for its views over Mount Fuji, and its Onsen’s (Japanese natural hot baths) and of course it would be rude not to try these. There is a problem however, if you have tattoos you are allowed to enter the Japanese public baths, we both have sleeves… This is the real, traditional Japan, the one we all see on postcards and we’ve dreamt of since arriving 🇯🇵

If you are lucky enough to see a view of Mount Fuji like that it's likely during the winter months. The winter months are also best for hot springs. Double win!

I feel so utterly lucky that I get to live vicariously through you – the time you are having is the time I could only dream of and it feels like I actually got to have it and my world is wider for it! I am frankly surprised to learn that in this day and age, tattoos are still looked upon with suspicion, like the headcount in the public baths seems like it would be but a fraction of those who would require private baths, but maybe I just don't know enough and that the larger proportion of Japanese people are not tattooed. I was listening to a piece on NPR today (National Public Radio) about how there is going to be a casino opening up in or near Osaka and what percentage of the Japanese population opposes it. It makes me think of what a rare opportunity it could have been for you to see a private Japan, and if I never do get to see it for myself, I am forever grateful that you did, and that you have shared it.

so, a lot of the you tubers are going to Japan, nobody convinced me yet that it is worthwhile. Too many people, Tokyo is just crazy. And I don't like the "shoulder season" half winter, not quite spring. Thank you for clarifying that for me. On the other hand, I loved your Russian destinations

I think Mt Fuji is the prettiest mountain in the world.
Thank you so much for visiting to Japan and taking interesting video. If you have the chance to visit the Tohoku region, I recommend visiting Mt. Zao in Yamagata Prefecture as your next option. There is a large lake in the crater of a gigantic volcano, and the city is a hot spring area that gushes out from the source of the volcano, and in winter it is a large ski resort. In addition, Genghis Khan, ramen, imoni, soba and ball konnyaku are also famous. There are nice hotels and ryokans too surrounded by great nature. If you'd like.

I was amazed that you included the bath house scene in the video. It was a shock seeing you two naked! I had no idea you guys were that HAIRY 😅🤣😂!!!!!
