ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー

D: Maple, today I’m taking you to Shointei, which is a traditional Japanese tea room.
M: I’ve been looking forward to it! That’s near Hamamatsu Castle Park, right?
D: Yes, it’s just a 5-minute walk from the park’s parking lot.
M: I’ve never noticed it before. Was there a tea room near there?
D: It’s a bit hidden, so it’s hard to find. But there’s a sign for Shointei at the park.
M: Really?
Oh, I see it now.
D: Here’s the map for how to go there.
M: Okay, I see now how to get there. Let’s go.
D: On the way to the tea room, you’ll see a playground and a pool for kids.
M: I’ve never been in this area before.

D: Look at the gate. I love this path to the gate.
M: Ya, it’s so cool!
D: Shointei is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. It has some beautiful architecture and a serene atmosphere.
M: That sounds great. How much does it cost?
D: It’s 500 yen, which includes a bowl of matcha or a cup of sencha and a sweet confection.
M: Wow, that’s really reasonable.

D: The front yard is also very lovely.
M: Yep, the white stones look nice.

D: The tea room was originally built in 1922 as a private residence for a wealthy merchant, but it was later converted into a tea house.
M: I see. I love this tea room because of its connection to nature.
D: It has a pond, stone lanterns, and carefully pruned trees and shrubs.
M: It’s so peaceful here. Let’s go outside.
D: Good idea.

D: On the way back to the gate, we’ll see a pond with a bridge over it.
M: It must be beautiful.
D: It sure is.
M: Oh, is that it?
D: Uh huh. Isn’t it nice?
M: It’s wonderful.
M: I’m sure this place attracts not only the locals like us, but also many visitors from abroad.
D: Many tourists come here, yes.

D: By the way, Hamamatsu’s annual festival is coming up soon!
Isn’t it exciting?
M: Yay! I can’t wait!
