How’d you like a seaside home with a bay and a live volcano for the scenery? Senganen was the home, garden and factory for the Shimazu clan, one of the most powerful in Kyushu and greatly influential in Japan’s history and modernization. In addition to the view and beautiful gardens is a museum, for an extra price there’s a tour of the home as it was in the 1890s.
Senganen a.k.a. Isoteien (仙巌園, 磯庭園) is one of the must-see places in Kagoshima City, in addition to Sakurajima.
