Targeted on the Way to Naha’s Best View? 🇯🇵

Naha, Okinawa, Japan – Going deeper into Naha’s historic side, I head to Kinjo-cho, a stone-paved path, listed as one of Japan’s top 100, leading up to Okinawa’s famous Shuri castle. On my way up, I get ambushed by a Japanese man and foreigners in a strange house… what exactly is going on here?

This is vlog 45.

  1. Nice walk, thanks!
Many eating/drinking places don't open until the evening because most of the customers are working in the daytime. The place where people were drinking next to the communal well on Kinjo-cho is a local community facility. Not religious in any way but used by different groups as a meeting place. BTW, Kinjo-cho was the way tradespeople and delivery's went up and down to Shuri-jo, dignitaries made their way along Dai-do. As a young man in my 20's (back in the early 1980's), my sensei would have me and others run from Makishi to Kinjo-cho, catch our breath, then we would run to the top….and yes, it was difficult!!!! Don't feel bad about missing out on visiting the 'Bishop wood'…every time I've been there I've been eaten alive by insects….
