A huge change is coming – 3 Years in Japan

Believe it or not, March 20th 2023 marks three years living in Japan. Since I arrived in 2020, I have always lived in Miyako City, Iwate but as of this year it’s time for a change, to experience a new part of Japan.

I will still be an assistant English teacher here but for another company in a very different part of Japan. All is revealed in this video.

I also answer questions from my Patrons about where my interest in Japan came from, my regrets, my disappointments — some of which may surprise you greatly — as well as many more questions.

Finally I reflect on the experience of living in Iwate and give thanks to all the wonderful opportunities and experiences that I have had the pleasure of having since coming to Japan.

  1. Congratulations on 3 years enjoy your trip down to Mie all the best for the next year and many more to come.

  2. Exciting things are great! Sometimes scary, but you always learn so much and you get better at everything, instead of staying inside a bubble. 🙂

  3. Congrats on 3 years and good luck on the next step on your adventure in Japan!

  4. Hiya Vicky ☺️ Once again congratulations on the the third anniversary of living Japan. As you no doubt remember, you and l left the U.K. roughly about 8 months apart back in 2020 so this has been an adventure close to my heart and l have shared many of your ups and downs on a personal level. It’s been some ride huh?…phew. I’ve already made my comments on this video on Patreon (please everyone consider joining, it’s great stuff), so l won’t re-hash those here. Thank you for sharing what you do and l know for myself it’s gives me inspiration and hope for the future and being a savior of it 😉

  5. Been following your channel and content since you were still back in UK ( congratulations for escaping by the way ) but have rarely commented, as I feel I generally don't have anything useful to add. I love your long-form videos like this especially 🙂 That said, even though we've barely had any interaction over your YouTube comments, i do love your content and hosting style, regardless of a video being 1 hour + or 10 minutes or less. No hyperbole, zany and explosive reaction stuff. Everything delivered in a way where you treat your viewers as adults. I really appreciate your style.
So I am genuinely happy that you will have plenty of new adventures that you can share with all of us, should you feel so inclined. I really, genuinely wish you the very best, moving forward in a new place. Will be incredibly interesting to see what happens next, hopefully in the best way possible. Good luck Vicki ( apologies if I spelt your name wrong! ) Best of luck for the future !

  6. Wow! Some amazing views there. I really enjoyed seeing the lovely scenery. I wish you all the best in your move and new career venture. Hope you are able to enjoy creating more artwork and do the things you love. Looking forward to seeing more parts of Japan as you explore. Take care and peace!

  7. Super Play! … And Mie! Just down the road… Ish 🙂
Sounds like a nice change of scenery… But the sea is miles out… You going to be okay ? 😅

  8. I only recently discovered your channel about a month ago so I haven't followed your adventure from the start. But in the videos I have seen so far I can really feel the genuinity of your ups and downs. I realise that your channel isn't about content of "Hey check out this cool stuff or this and that.." it's more of about life, thoughts, dreams + awesome videogames! Don't really know where I'm going with this but I find myself keep comming back to your channel because of the deeper topics. Really inspiring stuff.

Stay awesome and good luck on your next adventure!

  9. I wish i could be there too, stay and live earning money like everyone. My dream to focus on learn and explore japan, place i can still buy cheap wonderswan mono.

  11. All the best with the move! Sounds like a good spot because Osaka, Nagoya and Nara are all amazing. I'm actually back in Nagoya for a month in early summer and cannot wait!

  12. May your new adventures commence! 🎉 All the best in your new city.
Have your been to one of the Hub British pubs? They make a thing about having Sarson's malt vinegar.
