Niseko has distinct seasons. The summer (Jun–Sep) has warm and sunny days with golf, hiking, rafting and mountain biking. The Japanese summer holiday (Aug) is a peak travel period, as well as Dec–Feb, when the area is renowned for abundant snowfall in its ski resorts. The local area also offers numerous summer festivals with food, music, sports and fireworks. The early fall (Sep–Oct) is a time of crisp weather and vivid foliage.
