Minamisatsuma 南さつま市 is located in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. It is on the western (East China Sea) side of the Satsuma Peninsula.
The grand coastal road 226 always offers new spectacular views of the rugged cliffs and the Chinese sea. There are several observatories from which you can enjoy the beautiful scenery and the wild sea. In the meantime there are small fishing villages and a place has created a special fame: At Bonotsucho Akime 坊津町秋目 scenes were shot for the James Bond 007 motion picture “You Only Live Twice”.
