This time, our hosts visited Yufuin in Oita Prefecture.

At the base of Mt. Yufu, the symbol of Yufu City, are the hot springs of Yufuin Onsen, where you can enjoy sweeping views of the lush green mountain while bathing in luxurious hot springs for an exquisite, relaxing retreat.

In addition to the hot springs, the area is also famous for its unique art spots, foodie cafes with tasty dishes, and more, promising various ways to have fun.

First up, our hosts headed for the Yufuin Stained Glass Museum.

The first full-blown stained glass museum in Japan, the Yufuin Stained Glass Museum exhibits a collection of antique stained glass pieces from 1800s Europe alongside art pieces and more to guide visitors through the amazing world of glass.

Alongside the exhibits exploring stained glass regions and patterns is the enormous stained glass window adorning St. Robert’s Church, forming an enchanting world of flowing sunlight enveloping all in its majestic beauty.

In addition, you can also join the stained glass-making experience to create your own photo frame, mirror, and more by combining colorful pieces of glass.

Continuing on, our hosts stopped by Yufu Mabushi Shin, which is located near Lake Kinrin, a popular Yufuin attraction.
Lake Kinrin is famous for its rare hot spring that wells up from the bottom of the lake, often shrouding it in a mystical morning mist showcasing totally different scenery from the daytime.

Yufu Mabushi Shin serves local cuisine such as Mabushi dishes, which feature generous helpings of Bungogyu beef.
Our hosts ordered Bungogyu Mabushi and enjoyed the luscious flavors and mellow umami of the meat through a variety of different styles, relishing each individual taste.

Cucu-chi Yufuin, on Yunotsubo Kaido Street, sells delightful handmade sweets using regional Kyushu ingredients aimed at local consumption.

The freshly baked dorayaki boasts fluffy outer batter packed with mashed red bean paste offering a refined sweetness that melts in the mouth. There are also seasonal dorayaki filled with fresh fruits and more, pleasing to both the eyes and the palate.
