I would like you to be compared with Korean Air and Asiana Airlines at the next time
What’s up Broski 🦋
I haven’t flown JAL or ANA in economy but their premium and business products are far superior than most carriers. I’ve flown business, premium and economy on the Tokyo route aboard Delta and it’s definitely not the same in any category. However, with the service and food are superior, the entertainment options on JAL are very limited. You’re better off bringing your own.
I tried to use ANA or JAL whenever I flight to JP. Love them both. One thing worth noting, both ANA and JAL still have good pitch for their internal economy seats (33-34 inch) when compare to US carries (30-31 inch).
I've flown SFO to NRT about 22 round trips in the past 30 years I've never flown on any USA carrier because they are terrible. United and American are the worst!! Stay away! On USA domestic flights
, basically I have no choice. I used to fly SJC to ORD (chicago) 10 times a year, and on those flights, you have to fly United or America, Anyways, have a great holiday!
We travel to Japan and SE Asia a lot. JAL and ANA are our airlines of choice, even into SE Asia. Singapore Airlines is fantastic, don’t get me wrong. But from our home in San Francisco to Sing is a 17+ hour flight and at our age (60’s), the bones and muscles can’t take 17+ hours in a plane. We flew on Cathay through Hong Kong (and weren’t impressed). We love EVA, but even EVA is 13 hours to Taipei and, while better, it’s still not great. The Japanese airlines have an 11 hour flight to Tokyo, you get off, stretch and get a break, then have a 6 hour flight to your destination. Much better for us old farts.
At 6’2” tall, I need to have premium economy, at a minimum, even though both ANA have regular economy seats that have 33” or 34” seat pitch. ANA’s pitch in PE is 38” and on JAL, it’s 42”. We’ve done both and it’s a tossup which is more comfortable. The bigger pitch on JAL is great, but the recline function on ANA seems better.
Service wise, both are great. We’ve always been treated well whether it’s been business, PE or cattle class. Food-wise, I think ANA is slightly better in economy and PE. Business I’d give to JAL.
Never, EVER, take an American carrier to Asia.
I flew european and american airlines, also middle eastern airlines. In my opinion, from service, comfort, food, and crew hospitality, no one can beat Asian Airlines, especially JAL and ANA 😊
I always use JAL when travelling to Japan. Their premium economy is underrated. I like the way how their seats reclined and not invading other people's space.
Do JAL weight your carry-on luggage?
okay so i am going to tokyo next year, so i can check in 2 bags/luggage as you mentioned?
Thanks for this. I just booked my ticket to go the Philippines and will be flying out from Seattle 🙂
So I'm traveling to japan in April this year and flying ANA, can I bring a backpack and a carry on in the plane? or is it just a carry on since the luggage case is only 20" I'm a bit confused, sorry if what I'm asking doesn't make sense. To put it simply I have a backpack and a luggage case that's 20" tall would I have to check in or is both ok to place in the plane overhead compartment.
I loved them both,
but recently there was a huge price hike since 2 months ago.
I live in Indonesia; so from what was estimated around 5 – 10 million Rupiah for a direct flight from Jakarta to Tokyo, now it's at least 2x of the highest estimated fare.
Now we have no choice but to fly via 1x transit flight, which costs even more expensive than 10 million Rupiah now (it was around 3-4 millions before).
Fully agree in everything you mentioned.ANA or JAL!!Thx for the authentic presentation.
New subs here ☺️
Love JAL, and the FA's simple bow to the passengers at the start of in-flight service, and before they take their seats for landing adds a nice touch to their overall service, putting themselves over SIA and Emirates. Only problem is they are always on the pricey end of the fare spectrum and far out from the median range for flights out of SFO towards Asia. But once I get past that hurdle, their level of service is unmatched.
Hi do you know if they allow us to have a stop over in Japan after we bought roundtrip ticket?
Agreed
In my experience they also really care for luggage.
Okay the technology Point has nothing to do with japanese Airline. The Dreamliner in general has the buttons under the window. Other than that very nice and helpful Video
Plan on going to Japan for a culinary vacation this year- what time of the year would not be peak season? Thank you ! 😊
Agreed. I flew both ANA and JAL to Thailand last month and both services were excellent.
The best deal I've ever had on an International flight was with ANA in 2018. It was also the best service I have ever received. The only flaw I can find is their choice to fly the 787 over the far superior A350.
Agree , Japan and Ana airline is the best , good service and food . Don't take United Airline , the service and the food is suck and the seat is not comfortable at all
Not a good airlines to use. If you are going to use the website to book and have no issues it might be ok. However, if you need to contact the airlines for any reason it is impossible. You don't have to take my word for it. Try to call. So, if you want to use rewards points to travel, have luggage issue, or any questions at all. You are out of luck.
From Seattle I would take delta because it’s one of their hubs. From LAX or SFO I would take United or ANA because it’s a United hub and both airlines are star alliance.
Why did you need a Visa if you’re a US citizen?
I’m taking my family on a trip to Japan in a month and the service and comfort reviews was one of the main reasons I chose Jal, I think I prefer to pay a little extra for a nice direct flight with good service than deal with the hassle of connections and only ok service, specially after a somewhat disastrous experience on my last trip somewhere else with a cancelled connection
Definitely much much better than Singapore airline, from personal experience.
Many years ago, when I flew to Japan, I took ANA. The seats weren't as nice as the ones you had, but the green tea came in a China cup! Staff kept coming over to see the blonde who kept asking for green tea (which I guess was unusual back then).
I flew ANA Business Class Bangkok to Los Angeles return. This airline is grossly overrated and was my most disappointing trip to the US. I would not recommend them at all.
That’s very true! JAL and ANA are the best airlines , ever! Great service from the smiling crews will really amaze you throughout your journey. Hands down!!!
@Everyone – Never travelled overseas, so I usually only carry a simple backpack. BUT, I'm moving overseas to Indonesia. My question is, can I carry a Lowepro ProTactic-450aw AND a rolling carry-on luggage? I'm wanting to take my laptop with all my camera gear and audio recording stuff in the backpack. But, I'm not sure about the weight limit or size?
I love the Japanese airlines… but it is too expensive for me… but I agree with you the service and the vibe is sooo unlike the USA service!!
He had an American passport and stated he got his Visa, It tells me I don't have to have a visa for a trip from US in May.
I love Ana every time I fly to Asia I always chose Ana! They’re my favorite Airlines last time I flew with them was a month before Covid to Hong Kong. Flying with them again on the 20th to Kuala Lumpur 4th time with them best service even better then Singapore airlines that’s saying a lot too because Singapore is up there!! Let’s go Ana
