Why Singapore is not safe anymore. $16,000 Scam by a Japanese Girl

Singapore may no longer be super safe. My Singaporean viewer, Daniel reached out to me to get my opinion on the “Japanese” girl she met online via Facebook ad. Daniel is not sure if this girl is a scam. He is also not sure if she is really Japanese. I met up with Daniel and tried to figure out what is really happening. This is a real-life story of an online love scam in Singapore.

  1. Just a gentle reminder to not write mean comments! They will get deleted. I’m grateful Daniel let me film this and remind all of us to be wary of online scams!

  2. I feel sorry for how he fell for this scam. She professed affection so early even though they have never met in real life, this should have been a big red flag from the start. Take care everyone, some are wolves dressed as sheep out there. If it’s too good to be true, it very likely is.

  3. Hi Ojisan, this is 100% scam, my friend also got the same issue. They will be nice to u first and then when u become close, they will start to tell u about their life in e-commerce business.

  4. The internet is not safe 😀
Love seeing different sort of content on this channel!

  5. one question I have about these relationship chats. Why they only chat but don’t do zoom calls or Google meet?

  6. Luking at photo no 3, no Japanese nor Chinese has this size of rear end. My guess is Philipino.

  7. Really appreciate that you personally care for your fans when they reach out to you. You even took time to went down to advise him, and even hid his identity. Well done!

  8. The country is safe but it doesn't mean people are street smart, right? That happens when the country is "too" safe. 😅

  9. The title of the video clip is inappropriate easily mislead. Wanted to attract viewers or unintentional? A tiny red dot on world map. It took years to build it reputation as today. It took a few second for some irresponsible peoples to knock it down. On one hand wanted to bring awareness of scam, on the other hand deframation Singapore reputation. As a Japanese how do you feel when peoples say Japan is an unsafe, corrupted and evil country? In the past subway sarin attack, politicians corruption and assassinated on the street in broad daylight? To rate safe or unsafe of country not just look at incident happened but also after the incident does the government and police force take any action on it? You have lived in Singapore knew very well scams issue Singapore government and police force had done well on public education. If one is careless fell into the trap, make a police report, learn from lesson and move on.

  10. Singapore never been safe even before this. Be it online or offline. Im scared to walk there early in the morning like everywhere else , even im in paris, london, KL, monaco, tokyo..you name it, .because you never knew psychos person are everywhere..or people in need of money desperately wil do anything.
Everytime im in Singapore, i wil stay at The Grandhyatt hotel..and im a jogger, and Im scared to pass by Lucky plaza early in the morning for a jogging or at late at night. I was chased by a Filipino/ Indonesian man last time there. Sooo.. Singapore never safe even before. Thats an overated statement.

  11. I enjoy playing along with the scammers and wasting their time before yelling at them “操你妈” and telling them how I'd love to Oldboy them and their kids. Wholesome family fun.

  12. those photos can anyhow get from google, facebook, etc. the first photo even still had the iphone bar at the bottom, its obviously a screenshot taken from someone else. This why i don't post personal photos online anymore.

  13. I also talk to some girl online, mostly they ask for WhatsApp I know it’s a scam. By not sure what they need WhatsApp for the scam.

  14. How do you fall in love with someone you never met , never touched , never heard her real voice , where she stays , worked , her family background , her likes and dislikes ?
    どうやってそれをしますか?

  15. Thank you Ghib San for this kind of video, it is much needed for the current trend of scammers targeting those vulnerable in sg especially the elderlies and IT illiterate. We can learn a lot from this video. Please keep up the good work. May good karma and good fortune be upon you soon. GOOD JOB. Daniels out there dont be afraid to look for help, there are a lot of Samaritans like Ghib San around to help you. 👍👍👍💪💪💪

  16. Like me, you might think you’d never fall for a love scam. But we all have our own vulnerabilities. Mine was investing in a NFT project that went to zero. Don’t be so quick to judge, but instead see how we can protect ourselves and each other. If we have loved ones and mentors that we check in with, all these could have been stopped much earlier.

  17. Sigh, sad to see this. These scammers are just out there to target the vulnerable, iliterate and non-tech savy people out there. From the video I can see this gentleman is as of certain age and definitely fall in one of those target categories. Guys please do not believe everything online unless you witness it physically or verify it through someone credible.

  18. Scammers these days are very smart and don't underestimate them cos they knows how to tackle human weakness

  19. hard not to feel bad for him. Appreciate your patience and non judgmental or condescending attitude towards him

  20. When the conversation pivots to money especially very soon after you start talking, that's when you should just stop.

  21. The header of the youtube is not very correct. This does not contribute to Singapore not safe anymore. For Daniel case he knows deep inside what he wish for when he transfer the money over.

  22. Ghib you’re are really a good friend my man. I always have so much respect for you. So glad we have you. ❤️

  23. Never ever buy apple store or play store cards and send them over to anyone you hardly know or have not met. It is a scam too.

  24. Love scammers are really disgusting, I urge everyone to stop trying to find love online, as out of 1 person you may meet that is real, another 9 profiles are fake and are looking to scam you. The tough pill to shallow is that online dating only works if you are already someone that is attractive to people IRL, if guys/girls are approaching you online when you have zero IRL interest, then it is unlikely to be real.

  25. In order not to get scammed, do not believe everything on Facebook, do not pick up calls from anyone you not know,. No calls no scam

  26. thanks for the education and awareness messeges u try to reach out ….gambaru da ne

  27. Sad to hear him losing so much. Scam is everywhere. Is a global thing. It all depends on the person. Stay alert n b smart. Don’t be so gullible

  28. Thank you Ghib and Daniel for sharing. Sometimes we are not as smart as we would like to believe.

  29. Ask her to get the money because his family medical health problem and need the money back. Thanks for helping him.

  30. I am in global business development and I have China, Japanese and Korean customers. All 3 nationalities have different accent and mannerism. The woman's voice and her instant use of QR code gave her away, she is definitely from China. The man admits he is paying for his desires of her attractiveness, the "joint venture" is just a cover-up. The scammer will deny she is scamming and she could be working in a group, not alone… and to be fair to the Japanese girls, the video title should be corrected to "… $16000 scammed by a China girl who pretended to be a Japanese"
