What does Holland America Line do Better Or Worse Than Other premium Cruise Lines? I explore the 5 things that Holland America Line does differently and the 5 things they do the same as other premium cruise lines they compete with like Princess Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, Cunard and P&O Cruises. I look at things like the on-board experience, facilities, dining, entertainment, fares and cabins.

  1. Thank you for the heads up about the affiliations with Oprah and the Rolling Stone.

  2. I am so proud, i been experienced and working for that cruise line company for 2 years, come on in everyone, reserve your ticket, go travel and see the world

  3. If you are naive enough to book HA don't book anything higher than a standard veranda and don't let them skimp on the drinks

  4. The way you showed the angles of the ship is spot on. The ship looks very ellegant. The rear is where redesigned Vista-class suffer dearly though. But from the front and the sides, the ship looks gorgeous, like a yacht.

  5. I have taken several cruises and enjoying all of them. My concern with HAL is the cliental are far too old. Every stateroom had a do not disturb tag before 9pm. They even closed the casino far before midnight. For myself and wife 60's…..we enjoyed Princess instead. Just our experiences. Also I wish all gratuities were included in the price….most cruise lines nickel and dime you with this policy.

  6. As a younger cruiser, I really liked their whole Exploration Central area and the cool modern theater the newer ships have.

And thanks for actually showing g(r maps and screens in the Exploration Central area. Many videos mention it but don’t show it off.

  7. Website is impossible to navigate and you need a dedicated “personal cruise consultant” to get anything done; need their extension. Terrible people on their regular tel. Number who can keep you on line for an hour and never accomplish anything And why sail out of Amsterdam and return to Rotterdam?? And then charge for a transfer?

  8. Does HAL still offer a discount for embarkation day specialty dining at Pinnacle Grill? If so, how much of a discount is it?

  9. I love cruising with Holland America, I like that they do two completely different itineraries back to back, for instance in Europe I did the Baltic and stayed onboard for the Highlands and Fjords. I've also done the Aus & NZ Christmas/New Year's cruise they are one of the few cruise lines that you are away for both Christmas and New Years which really suits me as that's when our office shuts down. I was supposed to be doing their Japanese cruise in October, but because of COVID and Japan not really opening up, we decided it was too dicy, with having to book airfares so far out, so are now trying Ponant's Greek coasts to Atlantic shores

  10. What about the NOISE on the Ledo deck? Is it as loud as the other cruise lines?

  11. Thanks for the upload. As my wife has retired we I feel HAL has the cruises which fits our style of travel without the rest of the family.

  12. I have done ten cruises with HAL and will be going again next year. My choice of HAL is based on great itineraries. I never look at cruises that focus on water slides, go kart track, etc as the ship for me is my transportation, hotel and dining to as many cities to visit.

  13. My favorite Cruiseline! Classy, good entertainment, optimum music, sedate and dignified cruisers, high decorum and no noise!

  14. Thank you for all your great! Me too princess to a short cruise to Mexico, it was great. My wife and I are thinking of going on an Alaska cruise and we have kids ages: 15, 12, 8, which cruise line might you think would be a good option? Thank you.

  15. Interestingly, I have been watching your cruise videos for quite a while, just because they were interesting. Never was in a financial position to go on a cruise, nor did I have anyone to go with. Now, I am booked on a Holland America cruise for March this year, to New Zealand. A very old friend is paying for me and phoned me this morning to tell me he just booked it. So now I am paying very close attention to your videos. Gosh, still cant believe it. I have a heap of questions. Like should I take something for sea sickness? Should I bring a special power point adaptor?

  16. I worked for HAL (Westours HAL) in the 80s as a motorcoach driver, and I think something that WAS unique about HAL was a "no tipping required" policy. I think it was a "dutch" thing, and I can't speak of other ocean liners. But it seems the automatic tip thing happened with other lines, with HAL following later.

  17. Seems like a boring cruise line. I think this live is for people who want a low key cruise experience. Not for me.
