Koyasan [UNESCO World Heritage] Japan

Come Join us as we travel by car, train to cable car and even riding bus to snowy place and contemplative surroundings of “KOYASAN”
UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Learning more about the history and spirituality of Buddhism, Koyasan is a symbol of the fusion of cultures. After completing 100 days of training, monks come to thank Koyasan’s guardian gods where Mount Kōya is.
Located in a large temple settlement in Wakayama Prefecture, the south of Osaka, Japan.

From Osaka, we drove 1 hour to KAMIKOSAWA Station (A local train station)
We arrived by 12nn to catch train by 12:51pm.
It is the farthest that we can go by car due to heavy snow at the peak.
We don’t want to take a risk by climbing KOYASAN Mountains without our snow gear so we decided to stop by nearest train station we had on the road.

From KAMIKOSAWA STATION, it’s easy to get the ticket (no need to pay yet, you will reach the counter at the BUS STATION – your last stop)
After the train station, it will route you automatically to the CABLE CAR
and from the CABLE CAR going to the BUS STATION.
Bus will route you to KOYASAN.
Going back home is vice versa.

It’s so easy. No hassle with the transportation.
Please be mindful of the SCHEDULED TRAIN in every area.
Please double check the last TRIP of the BUS and ask locals where’s the proper BUS STOP location.
We took the 6:30pm, last BUS TRIP going back to CABLE CAR to TRAIN STATION.

About the DELICACY, ENJOYABLE FOOD and OMIYAGE…
We have the best recommendations in this video such as SHOJIN-RYORI, A vegetarian Buddhist Cuisine. We even managed to stop by a local shop where you can have your OMIYAGE from KOYASAN locals.

Experience a fine dining of
SHOJIN-RYORI (A vegetarian Buddhist Cuisine) at
HANABISHI RESTAURANT
https://www.hanabishi-web.jp/en
“Special Food served in Historical Dishes used in temple events handed down by Monks for Generations.”

KONNYAKU NO SATO (Omiyage Shop)
322-3 Hoshikawa, 大字 Katsuragi, Ito District, Wakayama 649-7152

Enjoy watching!

  5. To be perfectly honest I have never heard of Koyasan. And I am surprised I haven’t, because this place is absolutely breathtaking!! 😍I’ve lived in Japan for the past 6 years and probably under a huge rock 🤣 and am still at awe that there are many absolutely beautiful places that I have yet to find out about. So many hidden treasures!!

Thank you for sharing this video, because I now want to visit this place 😍 And a place that serves mostly vegan food is a rare place indeed, especially in Japan. I’m sure a lot of my vegan friends all over the world would love to visit.

By the way! The snow just makes everything so magical. I wonder how the place looks during other seasons? I bet it’s just 3 more reasons to come and visit! ❤️

  14. Hello po momsh Like done na po. 🤗

Talagang manu-mano parin. Over all I like your videos, well informed and tlagang napapakita nyo ang ganda ng iba pang mga tourist spots dito sa japan. ❤️

Merci pour cette vidéo qui montre une façon alternative d'y accéder 😜. Je vois peu de touristes. Y a-t-il des restrictions sanitaire en place?

  32. I lived in Koyasan and yet I feel like I'm seeing it in a completely different way. Such beautiful shots! Well done guys!
