Cold, Rainy, Winter Hike Up Haga Fuji Mountain

It was a rainy day but I still wanted to go hiking. So off I went to Hagafuji. Hagafuji is located in the Haga district of Japan it is located along part of the Kanto Friendship Trail. You can see more of my adventures at: https://www.youtube.com/@WildJapan?sub_confirmation=1

Haga Fuji is located on the border of Mashiko and Motegi in Tochigi Prefecture. The mountain is popular in the spring due to the cherry blossoms. In the winter it offers views of surrounding mountains and valleys. If you go early enough on some days you can see an ocean of clouds in front of you.

However, on this day HagaFuji was covered in fog and rain. I still enjoyed the quick hike up the mountain

So this might not be the best day to climb Haga Fuji. The weather has turned wet which makes me really glad I decided to come here and not Tsukuba. So just barely in the fog, you can make it out is Haga Fuji.

I made it to where I am going to start my hike up Haga Fuji over there is Anzenji Temple a Buddhist temple. It was founded in the 11th century but it was rebuilt in the Edo period. It actually has Nightingale boards which are those boards you know people walk on and they’re like squeaky that you see in like ninja movies and alert people that there are intruders I think it’s the only example of them in Tochigi Prefecture. Also this is a bit of a great but not super well-known spot for cherry blossoms these are all cherry trees and they have white blossoms. It’s actually really nice in the spring and I will try to come back and make a video then. But I am going up Haga Fuji so I’m gonna go up that trail it’s gonna meet a dirt road and then from there we get on the trail to the mountain itself

This is the top of Haga Fuji. In fact, the fog is started to back off so you can see a little further now. Once again these are cherry trees this is another nice place particularly in the spring when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom this side has been cut and planted with cherry trees. This side has mostly been left to Cedar which was planted for the logging industry so this is a plantation forest on the other side

There we go. A quick wet hike up and down Haga Fuji. So if you could go into the comments section and tell me what you thought about this hike or one of your favorite local hikes to you. Please like share subscribe and I will see you on my next adventure
