4 Days on the World’s Most Luxurious Sleeper Train -Seven Stars in Kyushu Japan / クルーズトレインななつ星 in 九州

2023 marks the 10th anniversary of Nanatsuboshi Cruise Train – Seven Stars in Kyushu – and we were lucky to participate on a test run to see the recently completed refurbishments and experience the new four-day, three-night route. Words cannot describe how gorgeous this train is, nor can we explain how impeccable the service was, how delectable the meals were, nor how much fun the excursions were – but this short video can!

Take our word for it, but if you don’t note that the Seven Stars in Kyushu was voted the top luxury train in the world for the last two consecutive years (2021, 2022) by the readers of Condé Nast Traveller magazine.

On the new route, we stopped in Yufuin, Oita Prefecture, Aso, Kumamoto, then took a ferry to Unzen, Nagasaki Prefecture, and then traveled back to Oita before returning to Hakata in Fukuoka. This video shows just a sampling of the many scenes and some of the activities. It’s really something that has to be experienced in person, and I hope someday you can.

  1. OUTSTANDING! And what a traveling venue for an anniversary, a visit to Japan or entertaining business guests.

  2. Awesome video. What is the typical cost for a 4 day excursion? And is it possible to do 1 day only?
