Tokyo and Kanagawa have been a well-traveled destination for decades. Cherry blossoms, view of Mt. Fuji, and sushi grace the postcards and photographs. This thriving, colourful cities of Tokyo and Yokohama are famous for many more reasons than one. Tokyo boasts so many noteworthy attractions that it can be difficult to know what it was famous for first. If you plan on visiting this famous city, here are some of the things Tokyo is famous for.

Harajuku
Harajuku is known for extreme fashion and youth culture. The streets are filled with cafes, young fashionistas, museums, and tourist attractions. Most tourists visit to catch a glimpse of gothic Lolitas, colorful costumes, and real-life Anime styles.

Toyosu Fish Market
Once the famous Tsukiji Fishmarket, it has moved to a massive new facility in Toyosu. Take a Yurikamome Line, unmanned monorail service from Shinbashi JR station to Toyosu, experience how Japanese love seafood by trying to taste sushi in the massive fishmarket. Enjoy a monorail ride through modern Tokyo city’s newly developed suburbs. Wait for few minutes to get a train’s front seat, is recommended.
If you still want to visit old fishmarket Tsukiji Outer Market, take a subway to Tsukiji Station, there are still plenty of sushi, sashimi restaurants and friendly drinking places. Classic and old, but fun and reasonable pricing.

Meiji Shrine
This imperial shrine is dedicated to Emperor Meiji and his wife. The stunning structure and the complex that surrounds it can be found in a serene forest setting. Guests can also check out the museum and the mural gallery onsite. Free public park, enjoy this park throughout a year. Visit this park with your family recommended.

Shibuya Crossing
Home to the busiest railway stations on the planet, Shibuya Crossing has a reputation for being a bustling hub. This region is hugely populated and is a hot spot for nightlife and youth culture. One of the top attractions is watching the streetlights change at the main traffic crossing. Vehicles are stopped in all directions, allowing pedestrians to completely take over the entire crosswalk. There’s a new hot spot just above the railway station, is a Shibuya SKY. Strongly recommended taking a visit of this place, you will be amazed to see the size of Tokyo in 360 degree from open air at the top of the skyscraper. Fee of about $22 apply.

Sensoji Temple
This ancient temple is the oldest and most significant in Tokyo. Next to it are the Shinto and Asakusa shrines, together making up one of the top temples in Japan. It receives 30 million visitors every year, making it the top spiritual site in the world. The temple grounds are a popular spot for spending a nice afternoon eating traditional snacks from the nearby restaurants and cafés. All visitors will be doing spiritual performance, to get an incense smoke all over you for good luck! Just follow others what to do!

Akihabara
The epicentre of it all, Anime, Cosplay, electronics town, manga, capsule toys and video games. It becomes a jungle of electric lights and colors at night, providing a sensory overload for visitors. Getting lost, window shopping, and photography are top activities here. Using sophisticated public transport during your stay in Tokyo is also fun but challenging. It’s all part of your experience in Japan.

Other places we recommend are.

Ueno Park for museums
Shinjyuku night spots for night-life
Roppongi area for shopping and dining

Oh.. so much to list. All of them are recommended places. Need several weeks in Tokyo to enjoy, you will not be regretted!

Kanagawa is characterized by the mountains, rivers, and sea that are within it, as well as for being close to Japan’s most popular city Tokyo, where you can easily access by trains and buses. One of the most well-known cities, Yokohama, is the main site for Kanagawa’s business and economy relations.

The ancient capital of Japan, Kamakura is a stunning seaside town relatively near Yokohama. A popular tourist destination, its beauty and tranquil atmosphere make it an unmissable location. With a long and fascinating history, Kamakura is one of the most beautiful cultural hubs in Kanagawa and is packed with temples, shrines and seasonal festivals. Known for a gigantic bronze Buddha that resides at Kotoku-in temple, Kamakura is a gentile spot and has its own identity and character and it’s worth taking the sidestreets and back alleyways and creating your own experience of the city.
