My Car Was Stolen In Japan!

Expat stories about Japan (from a van). Welcome to my life in Japan. This is the story how my Toyota Hiace camping car was stolen in Japan.

There is crime in Japan. Just be aware. Enjoy van life Japan but be advised theft does happen. This is proof.

With that said, I’d still rather be here, enjoying my little camper van in Japan than anywhere else in the world.

  1. Interesting fuel pucks…what are those? Sad story on the van. I would not have expected that there.

  2. Never learned to drive. Kitty has her car stolen when we first started out. Criminals did a perfect job allowing us to get full insurance cost

  3. been following for many years never knew about your van being stolen, good to hear this was not a recent event but from before going back to Japan, I know you were stationed in Japan and then came back state side before going back, how many years have you and the wife been married if it's not preying into your personal life, love the van you have now

  4. Bummer about the old van Rockie. Great video as always. Damn that Oreo infused muffin looks good, shit making me hungry.

  5. East Coast way to go. I like the looks of the Domingo. The van looks good. Sorry to hear your story.

  6. Aww so sorry to hear that. Totally a downer! But everything happens for a reason, try thinking that way for positivity! You’re doing fine now and even better I assume! Thanks for your videos! Watched the ones in Mt. Kintoki! Amazing bgm as well! More power to you!

  7. Glad You Were Insured But It Still Hits Home Losing Something You Put Time Into, Love Your New Rig Rockie ! Hello To Your Wife & Hugs For Lil Camper ! Hap=E Motoring From Frosty Canada ! ATB T God Bless

  8. Had my car stolen at home in Oz after coming to Japan. Thing was, I'd practically run it out of fuel before I left, and the buggers only got a handful of miles down the road before having to ditch it. Haven't owned a car in Japan, but I rent one when necessary. It sure opens up a whole new world for those jaded by public transport……but then again, who needs a car when you can just walk out into the deep inaka, right?😉

  9. Great video. You’ve been married a bunch of years. Now I’d like to know your lovely wife’s name. It sucks when your vehicle gets stolen. I know from personal experience. I enjoy your talking head videos. 🤗

  10. That must have been dreadful for you and your wife at the time Rockie. Here in the UK it's pretty common, but Japan? I could listen to you for hours, perhaps you have more stories to share? Atb Anthony👍👍

  11. So sorry brother and surprised. Lovely to actually hear you chat on here and once again …. lovely spoonage 🕊🕊

  12. Sucks to hear you went through getting your van stolen. Fortunately I have never been a victim in my 25 plus years in Japan but I guess it does happen. We all get naive living here I suppose. I enjoyed your voyage and glad to see you’ve got your Nissan rigged up for you to travel and camp. Keep the videos coming and be safe out there bud!

  13. The sad thing here is most places won't let you sleep in a vehicle outside of a designated car camping spot. You can only be in your car at certain trail heads like x amount of hours before dawn or some nonsense. So silly.
