Dragon Khan Review, PortAventura B&M Sit-Down Looper | Kumba 2.0?

Dragon Khan is a famous Bolliger & Mabillard looping coaster at PortAventura. This ride opened with the park in 1995 and at the time, it had the most inversions of any coaster in the world. This coaster has a lot of similarities to Busch Gardens Tampa’s Kumba, but is it as good? Find out in this review!

  1. When riding this, I was kinda disappointed. The inversions except for the zero g roll and interlocking corkscrews didn't really wow me. I even preferred Furious Baco over Dragon Khan even though I had to wait so long with express to do it. I was suprised at how the drop out the station actually had some airtime and I got nothing from the first drop. Overall it's a decent ride and its still in my top 10 (I have only ridden 28) but it just let me down.

  2. Hey are you going to review red force? Can you also try and get off ride footage of it please because i live that lsm launch roar

  3. PortAventura was Spains answer to Euro Disneyland. Spain was eventually "passed" over when it was time for Disney's 2nd foreign opening. I salivated when I found they were to get an 8 inversion coaster. Love the marquis & queue building, but they ran out of $$$ it seemed after that. Love how they put the two B&M's next to each other. I still want to ride it.

  4. I am guessing this is your least favorite of the classic B&M sit down loopers. If so, that might change if you ever make it to Dragon Park Ha Long in Vietnam to ride Dragon's Run. I heard pretty mixed reviews of that ride back when it was Led Zeppelin: The Ride at Hard Rock Park.

  5. When you mentioned floorless coasters, it made me think of Kraken. Turns out the first half is identical, except with the cobra roll being taken right to left. The second half is very close, except Kraken takes the vertical loop right to left and only has one corkscrew at the end. And for added fun, they both sit next to highly popular B&M Hypers!

  6. the headbanging i got on this coaster is the worst i've ever experienced ever, having rode furius baco just before, the headache was wild

  7. Dragon Khan looks like a winner but I wouldn't know since I've never ridden a B&M sitdown, and I don't know of anyone who's ridden both it and Kumba to like it better. No single rider lines w 4 across seating begs the question: is it possible as a single rider to look for empty seats in the unload stn? That's something I only discovered for the this year at the two SFGAs. Now I wonder if I could've done that for Cedar Point, SFMM and Canada Wonderland. Thanks for posting!

  8. You should probably mention that these reviews and especially your top 10 rides list are only your opinions. I know it should be obvious but unfortunately some people don't understand subjectivity. Like, how thinking that is coaster is the best in the world, doesn't actually make it the best in the world. Just the best TO YOU. once again, for most people this concept is blatantly obvious. With things such as roller coasters and theme parks, there is no objective "best" or "worst". Only personal preferences and opinions.

  9. I've ridden quite a lot of coasters now, but Dragon Khan was the first and only coaster that made me say "ok this one was too intense for me!"
This ride has great strong moments like this wonderful zero G roll, but this is not the kind of coaster I like.

  10. I went on this for the first time earlier this month. I was excited, but it was so ROUGH. Even in the front seat there was so much headbanging it was unrideable. I strongly prefer Kumba and Wildfire at SDC.

  11. I'm happy to see your review of this, with how thorough and informative you are. I've always wondered how this compares to Kumba. I probably would prefer Kumba as well. Better forces, better setting, much shorter line, and able to pick our own row. The straight drop might be the only advantage that Dragon Khan has, but I'll give that up for the loop around the lift hill.

  12. I love the Dragon Khan !
This was my first B&M coaster in ‘96 , untrimmed and little mid course brake.
I had 20 rides that day-10 in a row at the end of the day…it’s a long walk from the exit to the entrance.
