Inside The Japanese Island Run By The US Military (#138)

Okinawa, Japan. A friendly island with good weather, a bit like the Hawaii of Japan. After all my hard work chasing down Yakuza members, that was more than enough reason for me to visit. But there was more to it than that: ever since WW2, the US Military has maintained a very large presence on the island, particularly the Marines and Air Force. I should know very well: both my grandfather and brother served here as Marines. I needed to see how these cultures clash on the island.

The US Military may capture most of the discussion when Americans think of Okinawa, but it’s also the home of the Ryukyuu people, the only people looking to be independent from Japan.

This was set to be an interesting tour. I found a taxi driver and asked him to drop me off somewhere in the countryside, where my journey would begin.

  1. Semper Fi. Taking a break from Yakuza duties for this one. Enjoy the tour of Japan's Hawaii.

  2. With all the history and death here I can guarantee you this place is super haunted. I am shocked no paramoral team has gone over there and made some TV series.

  3. Great video! You need to carry a stick to deal with Spider Webs. Same as if you were walking in a place with dogs or bears!

  4. I love this guys content uncut natural and he goes with the flow and meets new people that way 👍

  5. It is a shame that the us military is still in japan after the history with the two atombombs on japanese civilians…

  6. Not a single Marine I know loved that place – I honestly don't know what you are all talking about in this comment section, go live in Camp Hansen and Schwab first. Maybe those hell holes developed within last 20 years, is that the change?

  7. Another great video ! Never miss Tommy history lesson . I read where the U.S. bomb almost every city in Japan , small to large . The Nuclear Bomb or Manhattan Project was the most costly project at a cost of over a billion dollar ,forties dollars . Can't let all that money go to waste . I saw a news reel where the reporter said the fire bombing killed over 600,000 people in Tokyo alone . The dirty Japs killed 2,200 in Pearl Harbor attack , but we ,us american show them . When the Nuclear Power Plants melted down in 2011 , they claim , some Japanese said that was good . Lets poison those american . . Just bits of info I read , true or not . Do your research and tell me . The bombing from W W 2 is off the charts . Thanks Tommy . Who has the civilize culture ? Movie ' Love You to Death ' Starring Kevin Klein , comedy .

  8. As an Australian, it's pretty damn hilarious watching someone freak out at a few tiny spiders.
    They were absolutely nothing spiders.

  9. Best travel vlogger on youtube for my money! Interesting content, communicates with locals, and highlights places like this that you might never have known about

  10. "dropping the atomic weapons…." Controversial?! ^^ One of the biggest crimes in human history…

  11. I was stationed in Okinawa over 30 yrs ago. Interesting fact, Okinawa is 13 miles wide at its widest point and 69 miles long at the longest point.

  12. Role of Japan in the WW-II😁Lesser said the better😁They got what they deserved😁In the Nuremberg trials, maximum numbers should be that of Japanese, this didn't happen because they prostrated in front of the US and they're still in the same posture but the peoples who bore the brunt of Japanese cruelty will never forgive or forget, mind you, never mind Budhdham Sharnam Gachchhami, it's fake, it should actually be "US Sharnam Gachchhami"😁

  13. if you get bitten by a spider you might be spiderman.. you are from new york

  14. I have complex feelings to US bases in Japan, as a Hiroshima person..
We are kind of colonized by US, and I hope we can protect our own country someday without US bases….from China, Russia, North Korea.
As it's not normal that foreign bases are in your countries…..
Can you imagine that Japanese bases in US ????

  15. The language is uchinaaguchi for Okinawa I remember looking at it some time ago I understand when you say thank you 🙂

  16. I don't think it occurs much today, but American militants used to commit lots of crime towards the local in Okinawa a while ago. I remember when it was a huge problem. That's what keeps the grudge even today. Also coincidentally in Iwate today, a drunk us soldier left the base which he even shouldnt be doing because of the new covid restrictions, stole a car, and crashed it. The Japanese police can't/won't do anything; and the US military also will just lie and tell the prosecutors that they can't find him. Usually what happens. It's terrible.

  17. Japanese people are sheep by nature, of course they wear masks literally everywhere. Masks do less than nothing to stop the spread of viruses.
