Restoring Our Victorian: Pearl E14 Exterior Before & After

This beautiful Victorian House is finally starting to see some changes on the outside! This is her biggest before and after reveal yet! We know… we know… it’s not quite finished, but we couldn’t wait any longer to show you how great she’s looking!

After more than a decade the vines have been pulled off of her east side, the ramshackle screen porch is down, and her porch structure has been rebuilt. As ever, when you start pulling off layers you start finding things that need some repair: we know to expect the unexpected. Still, we didn’t quite expect to find the front porch was floating without a sill beam…

Once the rot and mess was cleared away, and the structure rebuilt, we were finally able to get down to the business of PAINTING. Choosing paint colors for a historic home is no small task. We really couldn’t just pick colors because we like them. We picked colors that are appropriate for the age of the home, as well as colors that set off the architectural features that have been practically hidden for decades.

Suddenly this once forgotten lady has a new life. She’s no longer the ugly duckling of the block, but is a swan among swans! She’s finally ready to show off for the tourists!
