  1. Just booked from Phoenix to Duma first week of February! Been watching for a couple years. Hope to meet you and your other YouTube buddies I’ve been watching.

  2. Hi from Australia. Another great video. Is Phil ever unhappy, I've never seen such a happy person. I also would not want to be around if he got angry lol

  3. It’s never a bad idea to have fellow countrymen about. Even if you have a Filipina girlfriend, it’s good to know local Americans. I’ve spent almost 20 years of my life living overseas. There were times I avoided Americans. Now that I’m older and preparing to retire, I prefer a location with at least a few expats.

  4. One of my Filipina coworkers in Manilla recommended Palawan as a place to consider retiring to.

  5. You 2 are a great team, funny too! Phil has a sense of humor, quirky and peculiar! Thanks for sharing all and good info. Be well, be safe, God Bless all! 😎

  6. "Shiny City Upon a Hill". Dumaguete has done an 'Outstanding Job' marketing themselves as a Expat Destination with the help of Forbes Magazine coupled with a huge presence of YouTube Vloggers that pumps information out by the hour with relatively little or no negative commentary. Is Dumaguete like many fairy tales depicting a series of fantastic happy adventures or is the narrative a bit more like a Echo Chamber.

  7. You are better off parking at 5am to listen to roosters and the noise. I have live in the Philippines with no noise in the province. But that only happens with hectares(acreage)

  8. I was in Dumaguete for a week last month. Well worth a visit and I recommend the Honeycomb bar which has a live band every night and 65 pesos a beer.

  9. Talking about silent places in the Philippines: I guess they are quite difficult to find. In rural areas you have the roosters and all other farm animals. In the city you have the noise (and the fumes) of the traffic and mind you: people are keeping roosters even in the middle of the city! Dogs of course, are everywhere!

  10. Phil, an advance welcome to Palawan. From one vet to another, I wanted to let you know if you have questions, feel free to reach out. Additionally, we are in the process of setting up a VFW here in Puerto Princesa if you are interested in joining a great group of vets. Just let me know and I will add you to our list.

  11. Thinking about relocating to Tagaytay myself. Currently in Talisay until September but really hating the low water pressure throughout the day. Didn't have this many issues in Quezon City so looking at other areas. Dumaguete always seemed a little too "slow living" for my taste but admittedly I've never actually been there (just hear things). Have you ever thought of living somewhere else (different island) in the Philippines?

  13. When I look at long term rent I check water and how often powers out lol. Hot shower and power next is restaurants within 20 minute drive

  14. Before I met my wife and got married, I spent 2 years traveling around the phils scuba diving. That was a great time in my mid 30’s. As you probably observed, it's a younger person's activity as you don’t see many retirees out there doing it.

Places like Puerto Galera, Mindoro, Moaboal and others are primarily scuba oriented with younger people and fewer retirees. Not that it should stop you or anyone but we all get old at some point. I’ve since sold the dive computer as I’m an old guy now myself. Get out there and travel around while you still can. I don’t understand how some will make plans to settle in one place without seeing other parts of the country first.

  15. Hi Gio! Any problems with GoPro batteries in carry-on luggage? I purchased a GoPro with two extra batteries (1730 mAh each). Arriving in Cebu Dec 14th; can’t wait!

  16. Oh Palawan, My dream designation. What a beautiful dive opportunity. Boat and houseboat rentals to explore are next to nothing price wise. I am envious.

  17. Phil, and Gio, I have a good feeling about the journey I am about to take in 2023, with me moving from the very rural northern NY, to NYC, then hopefully a straight flight to Manila, then the final destination of Dumaguete, to get acclimated to my new life in the Philippines with my LDR Filipina, and the final journey to Guihulngan City, and in McKinley there. I watch your channel, but don’t always comment. Phil, you are a guy that I like to see, as you have the attitude we all should have, for a long happy life. I hope we will see you on more of Gio vlogs, before your move next summer.
