This former SUMO wrestler wanted to open a restaurant after he retired from his sumo career and who better to open such a restaurant with than his own mom! Of course being a former sumo wrestler and 191cm giant man himself, his portions of food are gigantic and massive portions are what his restaurant is known for.     Sumo life is so hard, my cousin tried to joining a heya several years ago but quit it quickly… the insane training regime, the pain, it’s too much to take. I deeply respect the rikishi. Truth is, nobody forces the fighters to eat that much to gain weight, they’re famished because of that routine. Good stable cooks are celebrated, because eating good food eases the tiredness and pain. I’m sure Akiyama-san is missed in his heya, he loves to cook and does it perfectly. His food looks invigorating and delicious not to just rikishi, but everybody. It’s honest, filling and very large portions… it restores life back. He lived the life, he knows it.

    It’s great his mom is there, Surely she’s proud of her son. He’s a Yokozuna of Cooking!💪
