  1. Lafcadio Hearn was an Irish Greek writer. Famous for translating ancient Japanese and introducing Japanese culture to the West. Most famous for his ghost stories based on ancient Japanese.

  2. I am a total fan of Walking Tours – and these are always my favorite. This is most definitely a place I would love to visit. My best to you both.

  3. Love this video thanks for sharing this with us take care stay safe πŸ‘πŸ˜šπŸ’žπŸ’πŸ€©πŸ₯°πŸ˜˜πŸ‘ŒπŸ˜Œβ€οΈπŸ˜˜

  5. Such an interesting place. I too love Lafcadio Hearn and have read his Japanese Ghost Stories. I am looking forward to the Tabieats episode. Shinichi please take better acre of yourself.

  6. Thank you for sharing your beautiful travels! I love watching your adventures. Winter is here in upstate New York. We have snow already and it's really cold. Safe travels you two!

  7. be careful with your long walks, especially things like stairs! long covid can also mess up your respiratory system; there are people who used to be athletes who get winded just going up stairs after getting covid. loved the video, and looking forward to seeing more! take care of yourselves!

  8. I agree that walking from your hotel to your main point of interest is the way to go, because of all the unexpected finds along the way. While it is exhausting, whenever I have visited Japan, whether with my husband or with my daughter, we walk and walk so much. Thank you for your informative walking video. It’s inspired me to video more, more often.

  9. Shinichi, Covid is a monster. I'm 64 and I wasn't super sick while I had it, after 5 vaccinations, but it messed with my thyroid which messed with my heart and even my back hurts now. It really did a number on me. They're all problems that can be fixed though so I'm grateful for that.
I hope you feel completely well very soon and thank you for pushing through so we can travel with you and Satoshi. Love and thanks to you both! πŸ’œ

  10. Some of the bridges are so low that the passengers need to duck. The covers collapse so it can get under. Close to the samurai residence is a soba restaurant that was a samurai house

  11. It's so interesting that both Y's Kitchen and Y's burger are both good πŸ˜€ I guess there are lots of good chefs whose names start with Y πŸ˜€

  12. At 19:43 AHHH That's my friend's bakery! Sad that you didn't go in πŸ™ But it was nice to see so much of Matsue! People there really are as friendly as you say! It's a lovely city. Also…I love shijimi! Especially shijimi miso soup!

  13. Wonderful walking tour of the city and the castle was so beautiful! If there are any former residents still hanging around, I can almost picture them peering out of the upper stories of the castle and wondering about how the view has changed since their time. 🎎

  14. Hi Shinichi, Loved the tour of the City the castle and Lake were beautiful also. The food and sake looked delicious 🀀.Thanks for the tour guys , hope you get the chance to get some rest after all the walking you’ve done. Arigato , take care. πŸ˜€πŸ‘

  15. I stayed in Matsue in 2019 and absolutely loved it. They had some super good offers for foreign tourists, with a dirt cheap local bus/rail/coupon pass, lowered entrance fees all across the city, and super nice english-speaking tour guides at the castle. Plus there's lots to see in the vicinity like Yuushien garden, Izumo taisha or the Adachi art museum. Highly recommended if you want to see a different side of Japan than just doing the Tokyo-Osaka-Hiroshima-Kyoto loop.
