Episode 3:

The final episode from my multi-part Japan Rail Series – a visual journey showcasing a variety of destinations during a 21-day rail itinerary across Japan. With an emphasis on capturing photography and video of aesthetic locations during the winter time, this journey aims to inspire people to visit the beautiful urban and rural destinations of Japan!

Starting with some very early morning photography around Lake Yamanaka, facing towards Mt. Fuji, we realised just how impressive and notoriously shy the iconic mountain is. Without admitting defeat, we then headed off towards Mt. Fuji Station and onto Fujiyoshida to experience the view from the Chureito Pagoda at sunset. The views were seriously impressive and so iconic for Japan – I’d highly recommend making a trip there if you’re in the area.

Our final journey towards Shiga Kogen for skiing involved a quick overnight stop in Matsumoto to see the famous black “Crows Castle”. This iconic castle dates back multiple centuries and stands strong as a traditional structure, following many restorations.

To end our extensive 21-day rail itinerary, we went skiing in Shiga Kogen in the Japanese Alps with breath-taking views and abundance of choice among ski routes. In typical Japanese fashion, the quality of the snow was world class and offered an impressive backdrop for our first experience skiing!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this whole series as much as I have making it! Please share amongst your friends or on social media where relevant to help support the channel and future projects!
