  1. My guess is IF Japan ever reopens it will not be like it was, even after COVID. My guess is it will be far more restrictive, perhaps requiring visas from everyone. Having spent a good deal of time in Japan in high school, my guess is if the public doesn’t want the borders open, the government will listen and keep them closed, possibly for years. I remember once being asked when I thought Japan would reopen. I said 2025 as a joke…but now that wouldn’t surprise me.

  2. I think this is the right calm for now, contain the spread as much as possible and then make the decisions once the science is out. It really may all b a one month stopper, maybe not, but I’m sure Japan are looking to allow international travel asap, closing borders for as long as they have is definitely not economically feasible. We shall see though

  3. I dont know why every country is closing its borders. Omicron is "extremely mild" according to south african doctor and can be treated at home. Our visa processing is behind time for so long and now again !!the virus keeps surprising us.. It's all crap.. They just wanted people to get the boosters.

  4. This is so frustrating, it would make sense if they were stopping Japanese people moving in and out of the country but that’s not the case. A lot of us are double jabbed, maybe even a booster, pcr tested before we fly, quarantined for 14 days and tested again. Literally zero per cent chance of spreading anything unless it’s already in country. But lets shut everyone out because we fucked up the first time round and it looked bad.

  5. Does anyone know if the process for issuing screening certificates still goes on? I know they

do not accept new applications but still… I want to stay positive and think this will only last for one month but at this point, I do not think so…

  6. It feels like a death sentence. Instead or restricting only the affected countries just like the other countries did, here goes Japan restricting ALL countries from entering. Anyway, there's still hope in herd community and hopefully the latest variant will be the last one. I'm just estimating 4th quarter 2022 for reopening for regular tourist.

  7. Have you any idea why japan always close borders completely? I think that with 2weeks of quarantine, there is not a big risk to enter a country.
So why they always close everything?
    Thank you for your video.

  8. This is such an overreaction. At least students should have been allowed to enter. Also, closing borders will just delay the inevitable at the same time huge blow to the economy of the common Japanese people. I'm sure many businesses and schools are suffering from this

  9. Im ment to be coming next year as an exchange student. Reading the news made my heart sink. I really really hope this isnt gonna last for too long

  10. I left Japan at 28 of October 2019 then I changed planes in Hong Kong where I met the Swiss delegation of about 70 people of the 2019 Wuhan military world games which was the earliest super spreader event of the covid19 pandemic. I was seated next to a talk athlete so told me they had been in Wuhan. I actually thought about the thermal cameras at Beijing airport that I noticed two years earlier who where a still there after the first sars outbreak. Because I know big internal events are fertile ground to spread viruses around the world. I got the flu years ago at an internal exhibition. That's why I thought about the virus.
I miss Japan but I am happy they protect their current success against the virus. While praying each time in a shrine for the safety of Japan I just accept the situation right now.

  11. Thanks again for the updates. I have a flight ✈️ to Japan in late December but it's looks like the boarder will be closed. Hope we all can come back to Japan 🗾 soon.

  12. What about international students 2020 intake after 31 December they will able to enter japan or not tell me if u have idea

  13. If you are smart keep them closed forever and cut all connections to the outside world

  14. of course it is sad to hear such news but it is better than letting the number increase again and not be able to enter later…

  15. I read its only for one month for now there investigating how bad omicron is and there trying to see if the vaccines are still effective against it so just hang tight everybody and just hope for good news

  16. Just want to say thank you for putting up this information. I have had April 2022 booked for some time now and you are keeping me well informed.

  17. I have a study trip planned in April of 2022 do you think the Japanese government will resume issuing student visas by then

  18. I’m supposed to come in March for study and at this point the amount of fear over this in retrospect to medical professionals saying that there is nothing to worry about vs media is incredibly annoying.

  19. hell I wouldn't be surprised if Japan reopens in 2030. they seem dead set on waiting for the end of covid before letting anyone in.

  20. Thank you for the update but this is great really disappointing.. please let us know when the fresh visa stamping will start . あり月ございます😊

  21. My mother wants to go back to Japan she is going to sponser my daughter to go and myself hopefully can go soon my friends and relative are waiting for us to go both of my parents are Japanese national my daughter is only US citizen so hoping to go soon

  22. Does the Japanese government react randomly to whatever happens? Is there any roadmap concerning border reopening or perpetual closing?

  23. Japan's Debt to GDP in 2022 is approximately 266 percent. Japan's economy is not well and is headed towards a collapse, which could spark a worldwide depression if it were to happen.
Too bad politics in Japan are preventing opening the borders until after Prime Minister elections in July 2022…
