West Village is a community on the west side of Greenwich Village in Lower Manhattan, New York City. The traditional boundaries of the West Village are the Hudson River to the west, West 14th Street to the north, Greenwich Avenue to the east, and Christopher Street to the south. Other popular definitions extend the southern boundary to Houston Street, and some use Seventh Avenue or Avenue of the Americas as the eastern boundary. Far West Village is located between Gansevoort Street and Leroy Street and stretches from the Hudson River to Hudson Street. Neighboring communities include Chelsea to the north, South Village and Hudson Yards to the south, and the Washington Square neighborhood of Greenwich Village to the east.
34th Street is an important intersection in Manhattan, New York. It runs the entire width of the island of Manhattan, from the West Side Freeway on the west side to FDR Drive on the east side. 34th Street is used as a crossing artery to New Jersey on the west and Queens on the east, connecting the Lincoln Tunnel to New Jersey and the Queens-Midtown Tunnel to Long Island.
Midtown Manhattan is the central part of New York City’s Manhattan borough, the city’s main central business district. Midtown is home to some of the city’s most iconic buildings, including the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, the Hudson Yards Redevelopment, the United Nations Headquarters, Grand Central Terminal, and Rockefeller Center, as well as tourist destinations such as Broadway, Times Square, and Koreatown. Penn Station in Midtown Manhattan is the busiest transportation hub in the Western Hemisphere.
