A compilation of images of popular locations in Yakushima, from my first year as a hiking guide! I focus on Yakushima’s two nature parks–Yakusugiland and Shiratani-Unsuikyo–and two popular hiking routes–Jomon Sugi from the Arakawa Trailhead and Mt. Miyanoura from the Yodogawa Trailhead. I’ve thrown in a bunch of other shots at the end, but even though I limited myself to generally accessible areas, I’ve had to cut a lot!

How long should I consider staying in Yakushima and what should I consider for traveling around the island and for lodging?
