As cold wind from Siberia blows over the Sea of Japan, it picks up a tremendous amount of moisture. When this moist air runs into the Japanese Alps, it releases the moisture in the form of snow. This effect makes Japan one of the snowiest places on Earth, and one of the most beautiful.
