Over the past couple of months, Calgary has been fortunate enough to have Finnair’s Airbus A350s here, operating flights for Eurowings Discover.
As the summer season winds down though, their final flight for the season took place last Saturday.
Eurowings Discover will apparently be returning next year, but I doubt we’ll ever see those Finnair A350s again. Glad we had them while we did!

This winter Finnair fly from FRA to Philadelphia and Orlando for Eurowings. Finnair may well come back to Calgary next year, the RUS airspace is hardly opening anytime soon > their key market in the far East will probably stay partly closed for them > extra wide body capacity.

this is super awesome to see and as turn around coordinator for this flight in YYC I can confirm that this flight will be back next year but sadly no flying the A350
I never knew the A350 made a buzzsaw 9:09 sound when taking off. (I know a lot of jets do of course, RB211 being my favorite) Very cool, good catch on that last A350 out of Calgary. Love the profile of the wings. The peace sign lit up on the building in the background with the Finnair taking off was a nice surprise. Bet the view outside the right side was cool to have.

I'm glad I got to fly on one while they were here! Best part was that they sold the Premium Economy as just regular economy so I snagged a seat with 4 extra inches of legroom for no extra charge.
As a Finn, I'm a bit baffled that there are no direct flights between the two maddest 🏒 hockey nations, 🇫🇮 Finland and 🇨🇦 Canada. 🤔
Oh my, I miss the views of the Rockies and CGY! When I travelled in Canada in the summer of 2017 to fulfil my life-long dream, CYYC became my favourite airport in the world. It somehow felt so cozy. If I'm not mistaken, it was actually your YouTube video (I didn't check from whom it was) that inspired me to add Banff and Calgary as destinations along with Montréal and Toronto.
