Bandai-Asahi National Park covers Yamagata, Fukushima and Niigata. We spent two days in the Fukushima side, started off with the drive through the scenic Bandai-Asahi Skyline.

First stop – visitted Jododaira at the midpoint of Bandai-Azuma Skyline. The Jododaira area is prone to high volcanic gas levels as you can see the volcano is still active. We walked along the nature trail and walked up Mt. Azuma Kofuji to see the crater. It was quite amazing to see how grand the crater was and scary at the same time (watched too many movies).

Then we visited Goshikinuma Nature Trail in Urabandai. The nature trail is an easy, flat and scenic 4km+ walk. The highlights are the cluster of five volcanic lakes which were formed when Mt. Bandai erupted in 1888. You can also see Mt. Bandai clearly from here. The journey was really picturesque and I feel bless that I was able to experience it. I would recommend this to anyone.

Nature is the best therapy you never knew you need.
