Kodaiji Temple is a temple of the Kenninji school of the Rinzai sect in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City.
A temple built by Kitanomandokoro, the lawful wife of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, to pray for Hideyoshi’s soul.
Founded in 1606.
This is the first temple in Kyoto to offer nighttime worship.
It is popular as a famous spot for autumn leaves and cherry blossoms.
Visiting hours during the special night viewing period are from 17:00 to 22:00.
Admission fee is 600 yen.
Entoku-in is a temple of the Kennin-ji sect of the Rinzai sect located in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City.
It is known that Kita no Mandokoro, the lawful wife of Hideyoshi TOYOTOMI, made it his home base in his later years, and one theory says that it was the place of his demise.
Founded in 1632.
Between Entoku-in and Kodai-ji is Nene no Michi.
